A film by Lorenzo Gattorna and Armand Tufenkian
As part of the Refuge Arts Residency June 2017, I wrote the music for a re-telling of the Mad Hatter’s story (from Alice in Wonderland).
The work focused on Mad Hatter’s sensation of time unraveling, and his jarring humanity. The film is somehow meditative. It is unsentimental but somehow sympathetic.
I worked primarily with a Steinway upright piano, Yamaha CP-70, and Vibraphone in a beautiful chapel. When I wasn’t writing music, I was reading The Way of Chuang Tzu (Thomas Merton Translation) and journaling.
